St Peter and St Paul
Today we celebrate the Feast of 2 Apostles who were most responsible for the building up of the early Church, St Peter concentrated his apostolic work on Jews and St Paul on the pagans, These were two men that were called in their weakness to become strong in their Witness to Jesus Christ. Peter is known as the Rock on which the Church was built. Paul was the Church’s greatest missioner. As missionary disciples, we are the Apostles of today, doing what we can to build up the Church by our example, our encouragement and our prayers.
14th Sunday of Year C (7th July)
Today’s Gospel is an excellent illustration of what we can achieve with God’s help. Jesus sent our 72 disciples in pairs to work in his harvest, bringing the Good News, curing the sick and proclaiming the Kingdom of God in the name of Jesus Christ. They came back rejoicing at what they were able to do in Jesus’ name. At the end of Mass each Sunday we are sent our to glorify the Lord by our lives. May what we are able to do in Jesus’ name enable us to return the following week to rejoice and thank God before going off again on our next task, refreshed by the presence of the Lord.

We look forward for next year's Walk to Church Weekend activity.

At the end of July, members of Four:12 will be giving up a week of their time to travel to Lourdes as ‘Redcaps’ – the group of teenage/young adult volunteers which supports the sick and elderly on the annual Westminster Diocesan Lourdes Pilgrimage. To subsidise the costs – which run into several hundreds of pounds per volunteer – the group will be doing a Sponsored Walk around central London on Saturday 6th July. To sponsor the group, please visit www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/four12lourdes2019 or speak to Frances Doyle. If any Four:12 members or parishioners would like to join us on the walk, please ring 07732 392 749 or email four12.oak.lourdes@gmail.com by Wednesday 3rd July.
Petitions for Lourdes
If you would like our Four:12 Lourdes Group to place any petitions at the Grotto for you, please put them in the box at the back of the church or hand them in to Frances Doyle by Sunday 14th July. Please do not include any money with your petitions – for example, to have candles lit or a Mass said – as they will placed in the petitions box at the Grotto before being burned, unopened. We will be lighting candles and having a Mass said for the intentions of our parish and our fellow parishioners whilst we are in Lourdes.
