THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER YEAR A

Jesus walks with us.

Jesus walks with us even in our darkest moments. Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus in this Sunday’s Gospel, we sometimes feel crushed by disappointment and confusion. As their hope in Jesus appeared shattered by the crucifixion, they walked away in despair, just as we often experience when life overwhelms us.

Yet, at the very height of their hopelessness, Jesus came and walked beside them. Though they did not recognise him at first, Jesus was there, listening, and gently leading them back to hope. Listen, even when we feel abandoned and alone, Jesus is always present, walking with us through every fear, doubt, and sorrow.

Through his gentle words, Jesus helped these two disciples to see meaning, hope and God’s greater plan in what appeared hopeless. As Jesus illumined their minds and their hearts warmed by God’s word, they recognised the Risen Lord at the breaking of the bread. Thus, their hope was restored.

When we face challenging moments, Jesus still walks with us. He speaks through his word, meets us where we are, and leads us toward hope. If we open our hearts and listen to his words, we will come to recognise him, and our hopes will be restored even with greater strength.

Lord, when life makes us doubt your promises, uphold us by your grace until we can see you. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Happy Sunday Fr. Chinedu

PRIEST TRAINING FUND – NEXT WEEKEND

On Good Shepherd Sunday, there will be a second collection for the Priest Training Fund. This fund plays a crucial role in supporting men who are discerning and preparing for the priesthood. Their formation includes academic study, spiritual development, and pastoral training — all of which are essential for their future ministry.

As we reflect on Christ as the Good Shepherd, we are reminded that He continues to call shepherds for His Church today. Please keep our seminarians and those considering this calling in your prayers.

Next weekend, you will have the opportunity to support this important work. Thank you for your generosity.
