God’s Faithful Love
This Sunday’s responsorial psalm declares, “You open your hand and fulfil us, O Lord. In the first reading from Isaiah (55:1-3), the Lord invites us to come to him and receive freely. “Come to the waters all you who are thirsty, come without money, buy wine and milk without price.” But he asks us to listen so that our souls may live. This invitation to listen reminds us of the voice that came from heaven at Jesus’ baptism and at the Transfiguration, saying, “Listen to Him”. In listening, we follow, and in following we enter into freedom.
Jesus is the Shepherd who knows our needs and leads us to life, satisfying our deepest longings. In the Gospel (Matthew 14:13-21), Jesus took pity on the crowd and couldn’t send them away as his disciples wanted. Rather, he cared for their needs.
However, sometimes we go through difficult moments that might question God’s Faithful love. In those moments, we must remember and declare St Paul’s words in the second reading (Romans 8:35-39), “I am sure that neither death, nor persecution nor lack of food, no power or height or depth nor any created thing can ever separate us from God’s love made visible in Christ…..Through all these difficult moments we triumph, by the power of him who loved us.”
Lord, in moments of difficulty, may we never despair, but rather be strengthened by the knowledge of your faithful love. Amen

APPEAL ON BEHALF OF AID TO THE CHURCH IN NEED (ACN)
On the weekend of August 8th and 9th, there will be an appeal on behalf of Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) given by Eileen Murray, Community Fundraiser for the Archdiocese of Westminster.
The appeal will focus on our work in Nigeria, Lebanon and the Holy Land. There will also be a trade stall selling hand-made devotional Items from Syria, Nigeria, Ukraine and the Holy Land after all Masses.
CHURCH CLEAN UP
"Our recent church clean-up was a wonderful example of parish community in action.
We warmly thank all those who volunteered their time and talents to help clean, tidy, and care for our church.
