EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD
Alleluia! The Lord is Risen! Alleluia!
We joyfully proclaim that Jesus is Lord and Risen! He suffered and died for our sins. By his blood, he made us children of God, destroying the power of death. Having offered his body so that death might have its full course, he overpowered death and cancelled our debt of sin. On the Cross, He disarmed the powers and authorities and triumphed over them (Colossians 2:14–15). In rising from the dead, Jesus broke the prison gates of sin (cf. Psalm 107:16) and flung wide open the gates of heaven, offering us eternal life.
In Adam, all died, but in Christ, all shall be made alive (1 Corinthians 15:22). Jesus’ resurrection, as proclaimed in today’s Gospel (John 20:1–9), promises our resurrection, when we shall be raised and our bodies transformed into his glorious body.
Therefore, we are resurrection people, called to proclaim that Christ is truly risen (Acts 10:34, 37–43; 5:32), and that in him we have been brought back to life (Colossians 3:1–4). Our hearts are now set on heaven, where Christ is seated in glory, so that our lives may be guided by a heavenly vision (Colossians 3:1–4).
We now live by faith in the Son of God, who loved us and gave himself for us (Galatians 2:20). May we now keep Jesus alive in our personal lives. Alleluia! Christ is Risen!
Happy Easter!
