The Most Holy Trinity Year c 2025

Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, Year C 2025

This Sunday, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity, a mystery which tells us that God is One in three Divine Persons, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, equal in majesty and one in Substance.

In the beginning, God’s Spirit hovered over the waters. God, the Father, spoke the Eternal Word, Jesus, and creation came into being by the          constant self-giving communion between the Three Divine Persons.  This Sunday’s Gospel shows that the Father and the Son, in the Holy Spirit, share all things. God is a Communion of Divine Persons and not a solitary being.

Therefore, we are creatures of a communion of self-giving love. To imitate God is to live with each other in a communion of self-giving love.  Turned away by sin, Jesus came to bring us back to this experience of love through the Holy Spirit by whom we are adopted as God’s children (Rm 8:14-17) and baptised in the name of the three Divine Persons.   Through the Holy Spirit who proceeds from the Father and the Son, we experience God’s love in a way that bears in us the fruit of an unfailing Hope.

We also celebrate Father’s Day, honouring our fathers and father figures who reflect the sacrificial love of our Heavenly Father, who gave His only Son. Fathers are called to love with fatherly gentleness, faith, and self-giving care.

So, our Christian life is a relationship with a Personal God and about living in a way that mirrors that relationship of love, which moves us towards others in a self-giving love. O God, help us to live in your love. Amen

Happy Sunday

Fr. Chinedu
