14 SUNDAY ORDINARY TIME YEAR C

Gratitude is Foundational to True Discipleship.

When we understand what God has done for us in Christ, our hearts are courageously moved with joy to mission. Thus, this Sunday’s readings call us to rejoice in God's mercy and to live with missionary purpose.

n the first reading from Isaiah (66:11-14c), God comforts His people like a mother comforts her child, promising joy and fruitfulness. This promise reaches its fulfilment in Christ, whose Cross brought us life. Hence, in the second reading from Galatians, St Paul boasts of the Cross as the very means by which we have become a new creation.

Jesus sends out the 72 in this Sunday’s Gospel and says, “The harvest is rich, but the labourers are few.” We, too, are sent, not by our strength, but by the power of the Holy Spirit. Hence, Jesus asked the 72, and indeed, every one of us, to lay aside every weight and rely completely on God, who journeys with us.

The disciples returned rejoicing at their success and the miracles they had performed, but Jesus redirected their joy to a greater truth: that their names are written in heaven. This is the deepest reason for our gratitude, and what impels us is our daily witnessing. Our names are written in heaven. So, Gratitude must be the foundation of our missions.

Lord, may we go forth with grateful hearts, eager to witness for Christ while relying on the Power of the Holy Spirit given to us. Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

 Happy Sunday

 ST VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

Some months ago, we announced plans to establish an SVP Society in our parish. Thank you for your patience. Since then, both Mill Hill and Burnt Oak parishes have engaged with the SVP Society, who have kindly agreed to assist in setting up a joint conference for our communities. Representatives from SVP will speak at all Masses this weekend to share more about this initiative.

OUR PARISH SUMMER FAYRE

Our Summer Fayre for 2025 will take place on Saturday, 12th of July 2025, 12 noon to 4 pm in the parish centre and grounds. Doors will open from 12 noon. We invite everyone to come and join and support this fundraising event for our Parish. We need volunteers to help us in the Summer Fayre like in the physical setting up and running the stalls such as the tombola and cake stand and helping out in small tasks before, during and after care, so we encourage our Parishioners if you are interested to give your name and contact number to any of our Priests.

We would like to ask everyone if you could donate prizes and gifts for the raffle, plus wines and spirits for the tombola. For more details, please speak to any of our Priests or to any member of our Parish Pastoral Council.
