Following with Trust

No matter how deeply humanity falls into sin, God always has a saving plan, perhaps often unclear to us. However, he invites us to walk in this plan. We see this in Abram’s call in Genesis 12:1-4a, where God asked him to leave his homeland and journey toward an unknown land.

What an awkward invitation! Abram does not know the destination, route, or the God who speaks to him. It is a journey from the known into the unknown, guided only by a promise. Trusting God’s promise, Abram steps out of his comfort zone and becomes blessed and a source of blessing to many.

This mirrors our Christian journey. We often do not understand God’s timing or direction, yet we are called to rely on His faithful word. In this Lenten season, we are invited into a deeper spiritual adventure. Even though following God’s promptings may temporarily bring discomfort, it nonetheless sets us on the graceful sacrificial path of Blessedness, ‘a holy calling’ as St. Paul calls it in this Sunday’s second reading (2 Timothy 1:8-10).

To remain steadfast, we must fix our gaze on Jesus, attested to by Elijah and Moses in this Sunday’s Gospel (Matthew 17:1-9). To him we must listen as the heavenly voice commands us at the Transfiguration.  Trusting God’s promises, we too become blessed and sources of blessings to others. Lord, help us to follow you in trust.  Amen.

Happy Sunday

This special Appeal provides a meaningful way for people to contribute to our shared work.
